What is engy?

In short
  • engy is an AI API like ChatGPT's, with open models (DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Qwen).
  • What sets it apart: it proves that the AI you pay for is the one that answered, not a cheaper model.
  • Answers are produced by participants of the Bittensor network, on subnet 53 (SN53).

When you pay for an AI, how do you know the advertised model answered, and not a cut-down version? engy answers that: every response comes with a proof that it came from the right model.

It's one of Bittensor's decentralized AI inference subnets; it receives 4.99% of the network's rewards.

How it works

  1. 01
    You send a question

    Through an OpenAI-compatible API, with an engy key.

  2. 02
    A participant runs the AI

    The subnet's miners run the requested model on their graphics cards.

  3. 03
    The answer comes with its proof

    A fingerprint attached to each answer lets anyone check that the right model ran.

Going further: the technical details
  • Each model's weights are pinned by a published Merkle root.
  • Every response carries a compact activation fingerprint (TOPLOC), checked against the expected model.
  • Sampled recompute audits are being rolled out. engy does not rely on trusted hardware (no TEE), unlike some other providers.
